We’ll tell you what we think, and we’ll try to prove it to you.
Is this thing on?
Hey, guys.
Hello, woman.
Hey.
Hi, thanks for being here.
We have 3SchemeQueens.
But not the 3SchemeQueens.
Can I get a drum roll, please, Megan?
Introducing to the podcast, the infamous, the famous, the flippy and scaly mermaid girls.
Mermaid girls.
Thank you so much.
I love flipping and scalin.
One of our topest, topest fans.
Yeah, number one fan.
Yes, long time listener, first time joiner.
Yes, our first guest.
First guest ever.
Honored.
We have Jamie, aka Mermaid Girl, wife to Birdman.
Newly nicknamed Birdman.
Yeah, only in the last five episodes, is that right?
But welcome, thank you for joining us.
Guys, fun fact, Jamie is responsible for naming The Season.
Yeah, which I didn’t understand.
We’re just standing around a brewery talking about our summer episodes, and she goes, why don’t you guys call it?
The Season.
The Season.
And she’s not wrong.
Well, thank you so much for mentioning it, because when we started The Season, was it Eels was the first?
I believe Eels.
And you guys were talking about The Season, and I was a little sad that there was no mention of Mermaid Girl naming The Season.
Oh my God, I didn’t even realize that.
Oh no, it’s all good, since you just mentioned it.
And I got my credit.
We always source our sources, whether it’s Wikipedia, TikTok, or not.
Jamie’s just joining us.
She’s gonna run Mermaids for our season finale, but in the meantime, she’s just joining Colleen and I to discuss Amelia Earhart, right?
Colleen, where is Kait today?
She’s in deep, deep, deep, deep.
She’s in Atlantis.
She’s in Atlantis?
Yeah, the lost city.
Like that movie.
Atlantis.
The cartoon?
Yeah, my favorite one.
AKA documentary.
She’s being archeological, looking for the cure of life, you know what I mean?
I do believe she, like in the Barbie movie, had to grow some mermaid tails.
You know what I mean?
And then you’re going somewhere next week, right?
Oh, yeah.
I am actually going on an excavation.
Excavation?
Are you going to go discover the other 95%?
Yeah, I’m going in on the eels.
I’m going adventuring.
Are you going to a submersible object?
No, I feel like there’s bad doo-doo with that.
I’m just going to be swimming in the Bermuda Triangle looking for eel eggs.
Be safe.
Yeah, eely, eely, be safe.
Keep a lookout for some extraterrestrials too, okay?
Okay.

And I believe, Colleen, that we have a review to be read.
Oh my god, this is our first accent request.
And I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t know the character that was requested.
I cannot, Colleen doesn’t like sitcoms.
I don’t really, yeah.
Not to the key that she is not-
They’re too quiet.
They’re too quiet.
But we made her watch like three episodes.
And then after we watched those episodes, a listener requested Moira.
Moira.
So as someone who does not watch Schitt’s Creek, Colleen is gonna give this a go.
I’ve watched a few clips.
I’ve watched the couple episodes.
Let me get in deep.
Get in deep.
Dive in.
That was my chorus problem.
This is a review requested from Sarah.
Unravel the layers of secrets.
Find yourself confronting your own fears and beliefs about truth and illusion.
This podcast’s enigmatic embrace will entangle you in a web of intrigue and mystery that threaten to unravel the very fabric of the world existence.
Five stars.
Nice.
Was that good?
It’ll do.
It was about on par with Princess Diana’s British accent.
My rap bros.
Well, thank you, Sarah, for that five star review.
Thanks for the accent requests.
Somebody do a country one next.
I’m pretty good at that.
Now you’re going to just tell, you know what?
Or you could just leave a review, and Colleen can just pick it up.
I’ll make my own.
Yeah.
So is it time for our drink check?
Let’s do it.
Today, we are having a Mermaid Girl and Birdman for Christmas gave me a Crafties.
Crafties.
Crafties martini kit.
And I just opened it because I’ve been saving it.
I said when Jamie comes to record with us, we’ll have our first espresso martini.
Espresso.
And it had a lot in it.
We could be doing this for four more episodes.
It’s pretty good.
Yeah.
So we’re having some espresso martinis.
I feel energized.
I feel bougie.
Cheers, everybody.
Cheers.
All right, Colleen, what are we talking about today?
Well, I started the research on this and I like come to the conclusion that this was a lot more involved than I realized.
And if Megan was presenting this topic, she probably would have read the books.
I’m not in over my head, but there was a lot to learn.
And recent updates too, which I was kind of surprised.
So today I’m talking about Amelia Earhart.
You guys familiar?
She’s also known as Melee, Millie, Lady Lindy, because apparently she looked like Charles Lindbergh.
And my favorite personal Amelia Earhart quote, Adventure is worthwhile in itself.
Oh, that’s not deep.
What I did see about Amelia Earhart is that when she bought her first flight jacket, she slept in it for three days because she wanted to fit in with the bed.
She didn’t want to have like a fresh.
I have a lot of personal thoughts on Amelia Earhart that I’m going to get into, but I do have a scripted intro.
Oh, let’s hear that.
Have you guys ever flown a plane before?
No.
Have you ever soared?
Have you ever thought to yourself, I want to be the first woman to fly across the world?
No.
If you have, you might as well just call yourself Amelia Earhart.
Today, we are flying headfirst into the mysteries of Amelia and her missing flight.
Was she eaten by crabs?
Did she survive and change her name?
What happened?
Not every question will be answered in its entirety, but I’m gonna tell you what I know and what I think.
What do you guys know, and what do you guys think?
One, two, three, go.
What I think, again, you’re gonna educate me a lot.
My understanding is, this was like her second attempt, right?
And she had to land on a small island, and there were a lot of enemy islands around, and she had just enough fuel.
So if at any point she like lost track, she didn’t have a fuel reserve.
And I think she was supposed to like, wasn’t she supposed to be like following a ship or something that was to guide her there?
Anyway, I think it sounds like probably they just like overflew or something and didn’t have fuel to make it safely to destination.
But I’m happy to be convinced of something else.
Jamie?
So what are the widely believed theories that she crashed and is in the ocean?
The biggest one is that she just went to the wrong island and then was like survived, but was a castaway.
There’s also the theory that they were kidnapped.
Well, I’m gonna go into each individual theory, but a lot of it had to do with Japan because this was during World War I, World War II era.
So they thought she was captured or shot down.
And then another one that’s kind of newer is that she was eaten by coconut crabs.
Well, that’s interesting.
I don’t know about that one.
Until I tell you about coconut crabs.
There’s like a photo of people and people think that she might be in the photo.
Oh yeah, there’s a couple of different references.
Maybe she landed on an island and survived, but was like maybe a prisoner or something.
Yeah, that’s another part of it.
I think crashing and kind of being maybe held as a prisoner or something makes sense.
Interesting.
But I also was curious, what does World War I and II era mean?
Because those are very, that’s like a 30 year span.
Her flight was in between the wars.
It was like 1930s was her flight.
She was declared dead in 1939.
I think the flight was 1937.
So she was between, there was a lot of disgruntledness between Germany and Japanese.
It’s what you have to know a lot about the Japanese for this.
Jamie knows more about the Japanese.
World War I and II than we do.
I bet Birdman has given her a lot of advice.
Oh, that’s such a man topic.
They yearned for the war.
I had a bit of a Mandela effect with this episode, because I could have sworn she crashed in the Bermuda Triangle.
I thought that was a known fact.
The location of her crash is near the Philippines.
It’s in the Pacific, not the Atlantic.
So she actually had nothing to do with Bermuda Triangle.
Oh, I thought it was over the Bermuda Triangle.
Actually, the reason why I picked Amelia Earhart was to kind of discuss the Bermuda Triangle, because I thought there were some relations, but no.
The only reason why people associate her with a Mandela effect is because she had a plane crash, but she was nowhere near the Bermuda Triangle.
Interesting.
So let me give you some background information about Amelia herself.
She was the 16th woman in the United States to receive her pilot license.
She was a woman for the women.
She was born in 1897, she was 100 years older than me, and her flight was July 2nd, 1937.
She was officially declared dead January 5th, 1939.
Body never found.
She disappeared over the Pacific Ocean, which we will get into that.
Her goal was to be the first female pilot to circumnavigate the world.
This was her second attempt.
She initially started west to east, so she initially started on the California coast.
She discovered in that practice run that it was too difficult to navigate the airs and the islands, and there’s a lot of weather over there that made it difficult.
So she then changed her mind and went east to west, and she flew.
Her starting point was Miami, and her goal point was California.
So Miami to Cali.
Did you know she created the 99s?
Did you even know what the 99s is?
It’s a group of female pilots.
So she just surrounded herself with women.
One of her publicly famous best friend was Eleanor Roosevelt.
She was married to a man, George Putnam.
However, on their wedding day, she sent a letter to George for him to open.
And it said, I’m paraphrasing a little bit, I want you to understand, I shall not hold you to the code of faithfulness, nor I to you.
So, open relationship?
I heard he proposed like six times.
Six times.
And she finally said yes.
She did break records.
She didn’t break the circle around the world, obviously, because she died.
But she-
Allegedly.
Yeah.
She is successfully the first woman to fly across the Atlantic solo and the first woman to fly across the Pacific solo.
So she was able to accomplish them separately.
She was a huge equal rights activist.
She was a member of the National Women’s Party.
She publicly supported the Equal Rights Amendment.
And like I said, she was a big friend of Eleanor Roosevelt’s eyebrow wiggle.
She was kind of a nepo baby.
She came from a little bit of shmoney.
Her grandfather, his name is Alfred Gideon Otis, was a former judge in Kansas and president of the Atchison Savings Bank.
Amelia Earhart is from Atchison’s, Kansas.
So her grandfather was kind of like the head person in the town, like he was like that guy.
And her mother raised Amelia and her sister Grace to be different.
They were raised as tomboy’s.
They weren’t expected to wear dresses, they wore pants, they climbed trees, they were known to hunt rats with little BB guns.
They were dirty girls and they had fun.
So they weren’t like proper.
So that kind of gives you a background on who Amelia is and where she comes from.
So the flight, let me talk about the flight itself.
So like I said, this is her second attempt.
She actually had a second person on the plane with her, which I did not know that she had a navigator.
His name was Fred Noonan, which I thought was a funny name.
I know Fred, poor Fred, no one talks about him.
No, he’s like a loser.
No, but he went down with her.
Yeah, he went down with her.
No one talks about him.
Yeah, so their goal was to fly from Miami to California.
And she actually was so close to reaching this goal.
She made it all the way to like the like Indonesia, Philippines area.
She and like New Guinea is where she was located specifically.
She was at a pit stop in the Ley airfield and was on her second big chunk of the flight.
She was essentially going to be flying island hopping.
So she was supposed to go from Ley airfield to Howell Island.
And something went wrong in that process.
And this specific area was known for poor weather and difficult winds.
So she was having ships guide her from island to island, helping her land.
And she lost radio connection.
So there’s details about the radio that I’m going to talk about specifically.
There’s actually a lot about the radio.
They crashed somewhere in these islands.
And we’re going to talk about the theory of which island, where specifically what could have happened.
Now, what you need to know is the islands that she was hopping between are surrounded by enemy land.
So she was hoping to get from Lay Airfield on one island to Howl Island.
And surrounding those islands are all dominated by Japan.
And at the time was not our best friend.
It was 1930s.
So there’s a couple different theories.
So the biggest theory was presented by Tiger, which is the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery.
And they presented their theory based on their research, and then they had the Gardner Island theory.
Gardner Island is a part of the group of islands near Howl Island.
And it’s assumed that Amelia Earhart might have run out of gas and just landed her plane at the nearest location, which was Gardner and not Howl, because they were running out of gas and they didn’t want to waste time looking, so they turned south to look for other islands.
So based on their last radio transmission of their course, they would have been predicted to fly over the Phoenix Islands, which is about 350 nautical miles south or southeast of Howl Island.
Gardner Island is a part of the Phoenix Island groups.
There are witnesses that claim to have been perusing their home radio signals, like I guess that was a thing, because like they’re not sitting there watching TV, they’re all just listening to the radio, and they have said that they heard Amelia tried a radio.
What was she saying?
So one quote is, Noonan is seriously injured.
Another quote is, I have some injuries, but not as seriously.
Another quote is that they allegedly heard Noonan calling for his wife Marie.
Some people claim that they heard, George, get the suitcase in my closet, California.
Which background knowledge is that years prior Amelia instructed her mother, should anything ever happen to her on any of her flights, she had private papers in a suitcase in California that needed to be destroyed.
So they think that quote is referencing those paperwork.
And then another quote, people claim they kept hearing Amelia say, New York City, New York City.
But what we think she was saying is Norwich City, which is a name of a ship that crashed in the Phoenix Islands, near Howell Island, near Gardner Island.
So they think she was trying to point the location of her crash, saying, Oh, it’s near USS Norwich City, which is a famous boat crash over there.
But people were hearing New York City.
So she, if she did crash, she didn’t die like, in the crash.
Well, these are just like, that sounds like if she and Noonan were injured, there’s probably like a lot of turbulence or something.
And these are just witnesses claiming what they heard.
It’s not proof that this was real.
When did they come out with these statements?
Was it like immediately or was it like after the press got wind of it?
I think after the press got wind of it.
So that’s the other thing is, okay, so those were the witnesses perusing their radio signals and claim to have heard Amelia.
And this was all completed within a close timeline of her crash.
There was also, so with the theory that they presumed she was saying Norwich City, Norwich City, the boat crash, US Navy planes began searching the area, and they were specifically surrounding the USS Norwich City wreckage, looking for any signs of habitation.
They did not find any.
They assumed Amelia Earhart’s plane, which is called the Elektra, that’s what its name was.
That’s a fun name.
I know, I kind of like that.
It’s Elektra.
They assumed it had been crashed near the island, washed over the reef edge, because the islands were all along a reef, and then just sunk into the ocean.
So that’s why we can’t see her plane or find any of her plane.
How long would it take to sink?
That’s what I’m like.
If they were searching pretty quickly.
They searched, they noted her missing within like days of the radio transmission.
So they started searching days pretty quickly.
Yeah, I guess it’s not pretty quickly though.
I would think, I thought you were talking like minutes, hours.
Well, I think it took a while to get the planes, trains, and automobiles group to look for her.
So I just think it’s probably the point Jamie’s trying to make.
I don’t know.
Let me speak for you.
But like you would see here about her.
It could be less likely maybe for like if you were like we were out there within hours and there was.
Well, this is the 1930s.
Yeah, but I think in the 40s or 50s, we talked about in the extraterrestrial episode about about the Navy ships, the Navy planes going down in the preview triangle.
And then like they were out there within like minutes minutes.
Okay, so they were declared dead in 1939.
The flight took part took place in 1937.
So they stopped looking in 1939.
But obviously there’s a lot going on in the world, too.
So I don’t think they prioritize searching for one missing person.
But in 1940, there was a British officer whose name was Gerald Gallagher.
He was informed from his troops that somebody discovered buried bones in the area on Howell Island.
And so he led a search on the ground of the island, and he found bones, a bottle, shoes, and the sextant box, which is a navigation tool.
And so upon immediately discovery of all of these objects, they assumed it was Amelia Earhart and Fred.
They thought, oh, these are his bones.
This is a navigation tool.
This is definitely Fred’s navigation tool.
However, all of these things were proven wrong, except for the bones.
The bones are a mystery, and I’m going to get into that.
So the sextant navigation tool was actually left behind in this area on the ocean and all these islands, there’s a lot of, like, Navy navigation and habitation from, like, ships and people on ships.
And so the navigation tool was actually left behind on a previous exploration and had nothing to do with Amelia Earhart.
So that was immediately crossed off.
The bottles and shoes were also assumed to be a part of the explorations that are unrelated to Amelia Earhart.
The bones, however, became a true mystery.
So they found a skull and eventually found a full skeleton that was about five and a half feet Amelia Earhart’s height, assumed to be about 40 years old, Amelia’s Earhart age at the time of her missing.
Females?
Females.
Well, they were indecisive between declaring it female or male because of how weathered down the bones got.
I don’t know if they found a full complete skeleton, but they found enough to be able to divulge it.
And so Gallagher investigated them, sent the bones to the University of Medicine at Fiji.
They were investigated further there, but decided it needed more in-depth aging and carbon dating.
Carbon dating.
So they wanted the bones to go to Sydney’s University in Australia.
However, conveniently, the bones went missing.
They always go missing.
Yep.
So we could never find them, could never fully determine, could never do any DNA analysis.
They were gone.
Likely story.
I know.
So Tiger, which is the international group for historic aircraft recovery, they led a huge portion of the Amelia Earhart’s exploration.
They were the start of the Gardiner Island theory and Howell Island Association.
And so they found or claimed to have found artifacts that we can assume were Amelia Earhart’s.
They found improvised tools, unspecified and what that really means, probably like rocks and sticks, an aluminum panel that just so happened to match the panel from the Electra’s window, a size nine woman’s heel.
Well, she wearing heels, heels to fly.
I’m like, oh, I’m a slave.
So and then in 2019, there was an expedition called Expedition Amelia that was conducted by Robert Ballard, who was also the person who found the Titanic.
He had like deep sea submersive cameras.
And so he explored the floor of the ocean near Gardiner Island, Howell Island and the reefs in that area, looking for Amelia Earhart’s crash.
Was the Titanic missing though?
I mean, we do where we found the ship Titanic, but it floated.
The Titanic floated away so they could never find the exact location at first.
They knew it was off the coast of Cape Cod, but they couldn’t figure out where exactly on the ocean floor it was, because parts of it separated, they’re like a mile between.
So Robert Ballard is like the creme de la creme of ocean floor exploration and discovery, and his team could not find Amelia Earhart’s crash.
And he was quoted to have said, we felt like if her plane was there, we would have found it pretty early on in the expedition.
So the fact that they didn’t find it, they’re essentially saying, no, this Gardner Island theory is wrong, she didn’t crash here, because we would have found it.
And so a lot of people are very anti against what the Tiger group discovered, because they think they’re just making too many jobs, too many conclusions, too many assumptions.
Conjecture.
Yeah, which I think we kind of experienced with the Malaysia flight.
Like people were finding pieces of planes, but can we really prove that that was a part of the Malaysian plane?
I don’t know.
Can we really say the plexigas aluminum panel that they found really matched Amelia Earhart’s flight?
I don’t think so.
But we can make a lot of assumptions.
So that’s the most popular theory, that she crashed on a different island near the goal of Howell Island, probably on Gardiner Island specifically.
We have witnesses who claim they heard her voice on the radio, and we have these assumed artifacts that we think were Amelia’s.
So that’s the first theory.
The second theory is the Japanese capture theory.
So like I said, the area that she was flying has a bunch of different islands, and she was flying in between the allied islands, people that favored America.
The surrounding islands were all Japanese, all enemy territory.
So Fred Garner, who was another researcher in the 1960s.
Another Fred?
Another Fred, yep.
Amelia Earhart has been researched over the decades so much.
There’s so much information on her.
So these are the more famous researchers.
So this guy is Fred Garner.
He claims Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan crashed into Saipan, Saipan, which is a Japanese island, or the Marshall Islands.
Those were his top two, which were also controlled by Japan.
He claims Amelia and Fred were captured and then executed.
And his evidence to back that up derives from an interview of a Saipanese woman who claimed to have witnessed the execution of a woman who looked like Amelia Earhart by Japanese soldiers.
So the biggest critique against this theory is just the distance of where these Japanese islands were compared to her goal.
Like it would be like hundreds of miles farther away and people assume she wouldn’t have had the gas to get to those islands.
And we’re all so pretty much we have one female who says there was a woman who looked kind of like Amelia.
That she saw getting executed.
That’s all the proof proof we have.
This is where the photograph that you were referencing earlier comes from.
People claim there’s a photograph of a man facing the camera who looks like Fred and then the back of a woman sitting on like a pier.
But the photograph that people are all claiming this is Amelia, this is Fred, they’re alive, they’re in Japan, it wouldn’t be accurate because the photo was taken in like the 1950s.
And the aging of the people in the picture would not co-align with Amelia’s age.
So that photograph was shot down.
I was gonna say I feel like now someone should be able to like run some facial analysis.
You would think, yeah.
And then another reason why the Japanese theories got really popular, this is where it kind of gets a little bit of like, a lot of Amelia’s family was very, was very anti-Japanese, like Japan and Japanese culture.
And they were very publicly anti-Japan, which I, I do kind of understand at this time made sense with between the World War, World War II era.
So was Amelia Earhart’s family like out there vocally using them?
Yeah, she had multiple cousins and then her husband George were all very anti-Japan and blatantly blaming Japanese soldiers.
They said she must have been shot down by Japanese soldiers and executed, yada, yada, yada.
And I’m like, is that just what they want to believe?
To have somebody to blame?
Were they just traumatized?
Were they feeding into the enemy culture that was big in World War II?
You know what I mean?
So like, I think it kind of was fed a little bit of racism and war propaganda with that one.
So I don’t really believe the Japanese capture one.
There is another aspect to Japan in that they claim Amelia Earhart was a spy for FDR.
So she went on this huge public flight and then purposely disappeared to become a spy for FDR at the time.
She was Eleanor’s biffle.
And she was Eleanor’s biffle.
So people claim evidence for this theory based on a fictional movie called Flight or Freedom.
And it was a movie that depicted a female aviator on a spying mission in the Pacific spying on Japan.
And so people were like, oh, this is based on Amelia Earhart.
This is basically proof that Amelia Earhart did this.
I’m like, it was just a fictional movie.
There’s no any proof proof correlating her.
Yeah, could have been a TikTok.
There’s nothing really for that.
The New Britain Theory, which was presented by a World War II veteran named Donald Angwin.
This theory is that Amelia turned back mid-flight to try and meet an airfield on Rabaul, New Guinea instead.
So she was saying she ran out of gas.
She just turned around and went to the closest airfield she could think of.
So Donald Angwin, a World War II vet for Australia, was stationed in the New Britain area where he claimed to have witnessed a wrecked aircraft.
So he stumbled upon a wrecked aircraft.
And him and the other soldiers documented serial numbers that they found on the wreck on the aircraft that was in the woods.
And all of the serial numbers allegedly were consistent with what was printed on the Electra.
So that one’s kind of up there on my theory.
Unbelievable.
Yeah.
That sounded like proof-proof to me.
But when they went back to re-track their steps, nobody could ever find the wreckage again.
Likely story.
Exactly.
The other more popular theory is that she did survive the entire flight and hid from the starlight and fame and changed her identity.
So a big theory presented is that Amelia Earhart lived, decided to move to New Jersey and.
Change her name to Irene Craigmill-Bolem.
I thought the same thing.
I was like, that’s so, she’s from Kansas.
Why would she go to Jersey?
And also like, Irene Craigmill-Bolem is a real lady.
And like she ended up winning a huge court case against the, was it the New York Times who printed the article.
And like she won because it was all based on defamation.
So like, she’s like, I’m not Amelia Earhart.
I don’t know why you think I am.
It’s all proven.
Well, yeah.
Isn’t that what you would do if you were Amelia Earhart?
Oh, exactly.
And they did look similar.
So I’m like, oh my God, maybe she had some plastic surgery.
What’s Irene doing in her life?
I don’t know.
She was just living in Jersey.
I don’t know.
We’re going to find out Irene was like, I’m sure there’s a whole book on it that ended up getting printed and then pulled off the shelf.
So there are people out there that have the book that explains Irene’s identity, claiming to be like relating to her Amelia.
You can’t find it.
They stopped printing it.
Don’t want to align somebody eBay.
Do you guys know what a Tokyo Rose is?
Did you ever learn that in history class?
So Tokyo Rose were female radio personalities that were in code reporting on like Japanese propaganda.
So it sounds like they were pro-Japan anti-allied troops.
Yeah.
So they were English speakers promoting Japanese propaganda on the radio.
So people feel that she was captured by Japan, was not executed, but was then put to work and was put on the radio.
And the proof we have behind this are soldiers claiming to have heard her voice.
Now, George Putnam, Amelia’s husband, went back and listened to every single recording that they claimed was Amelia and was like, no, this isn’t my wife.
So George Putnam also sounds like a New Englander who lived during the Salem witch trials.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, what?
The name sounds familiar.
Okay.
And then the coconut crabs.
So, the only conspiracy behind this is that coconut crabs are freaking huge crabs the size of a large adult cat that can carry things as heavy as 60 pounds.
And they are carnivorous crabs.
So people claimed Amelia Earhart crashed onto a random island and was then eaten by crabs.
They dragged her bones into the ocean, ate her, and then her bones drifted away at sea.
And that’s why we can’t find her, because the crabs ate her.
That just sounds like a nice, tidy story.
If you look at pictures of these crabs, they’re freaking huge and scaly.
And they definitely have those crabs in the islands where she could have crashed?
Yeah.
So they like climb trees.
No, I don’t like that.
They’re like giant hermit crabs.
Another aspect of Amelia Earhart’s crash, this is my last tidbit before we can discuss further, is her radio problems.
So Amelia Earhart was a fantastic pilot.
She knew how to fly.
She did not understand how radios functioned, and she did not understand language used in navigation between boats and planes.
There’s like different terminology.
And so what you have to know is in her flight, she was being guided by boats, but Fred Noonan is a pilot, like an air flight navigationist.
So there’s terminology they’re supposed to use, and there was confusion between whether or not they were going to be talking in boat language, plane language, and then whether or not they were going to be talking about location or distance.
So she was reporting one thing, the boats were reporting another who were guiding her, and there was miscommunication.
So they thought they were at the same part, like they thought she was right above the boats.
In reality, she was probably miles off.
That was an issue with her language.
And then there was also an issue with the antennas on the Electra, the plane itself.
Apparently on her first attempt at this, she broke the antennas on her plane and then had it fixed, but they did not put antennas needed for long distance.
So she had short antennas and could not reach the frequencies needed.
And so that also led to miscommunication, which also could have led to her being miles off.
So that’s all I have.
I have two thoughts, first of all.
All right, let’s hear it.
I just looked up the crab, the coconut.
They’re huge.
You see this?
Oh no.
Yeah, they’re massive.
This is like the size of a trash bin.
That’s kind of wild.
That’s creepy.
I still don’t believe it, but I don’t ever want to encounter one of those.
I wouldn’t be shocked.
Feet long, they say.
Tree climbing, like you said.
I wouldn’t be shocked if they took a little nibble.
But you think they would, and they just dragged all of the bones out to sea and they vanished?
Eat them up.
Yep.
I think especially everything you said at the end there about like the boats and the planes, and the place not using the same language and being miles off, again, from what I know, she had exactly enough gas and there was no reserve.
That was another tidbit.
People like the Tygar Group, who claim to have found all these artifacts in these shoes, Amelia Earhart, like when in her preparation for this, like made it very clear that her plane had nothing but gas in it.
Like any available space had gas tanks.
So they weren’t carrying extra clothes.
They weren’t carrying anything extra.
So like they wouldn’t have had these artifacts that were found.
Again, and I think Jamie and I agree, she’s not wearing high heels.
No, there’s no way.
Yeah.
Unless they were in a suitcase.
But you say they weren’t even in a suitcase because they didn’t have anything.
They have what was on their backs and like food.
She doesn’t sound like a girl who’s wearing a lot of high heels.
No, she don’t care.
She don’t care.
So, I guess like the bigger conspiracy is, did she survive her crash?
Did she?
The Japanese killed her or she’s living a new life?
Or a new life.
So, did she survive her crash, was a castaway, died?
Did she get shot down and executed by the Japanese?
Did she survive, was a prisoner of war for the Japanese or was she a spy for FDR?
I also don’t know why she would end up to cheer theory that she was living in Jersey too.
Like, why would you not want to, well, again, you’re like one of the most famous women in the world.
And she kind of survived in the limelight, like she was such a big voice for females.
She was a huge activist.
She did all these things to attract attention to promote females doing alternative careers.
So like, why would she give that all away?
Well, then I would think if the Japanese captured her, she seems like a prime POW.
Yeah, they would advertise that.
Yeah, that was a counter argument people had.
People were like, if she was captured by Japanese, they would present her like to be heroes so that they could be, you know what I mean?
What did you trade for her?
So yeah, I think she probably just crashed.
I think she crashed.
That’s kind of anticlimactic.
But did she survive the crash?
Because there’s a lot of witnesses claiming to have heard her on the radio.
So but again, they all came about when her crash.
I was just picturing all that radio, the radio that you were talking about being like right before she crashed.
Like maybe there had been turbulence.
No, they claim it was after the crash, like, because she talks about the injury, she talks about the boat wreckage that she was allegedly near.
And then there’s also clips people claim to have heard where she’s talking about high tide and that they’re taking on water.
So did she just crash into water?
I think they think that she would have tried to land on the water.
I would have assumed that too.
Oh, the little sully Sullenberg?
And who knows if she could have gotten out, maybe to an island.
Yeah.
Well, what’s the breaking news?
The breaking news is that a deep sea exploration company.
They’re from South Carolina.
Great.
Well, that’s the one.
They think, so they have a sonar image that they think could be her plane.
It does look like a plane.
Yeah, we’ll take pictures.
It’s a group from South Carolina doing deep sea exploration.
They took a sonar image about 100 miles from Howell Island, about 16,000 feet below the ocean surface.
And it does look like a plane.
But would her plane have stayed in one piece like that?
Because we kind of talked about that with the Malaysian flight.
Yeah, I think it depends on the speed and the angle.
And again, if you’re saying, if you think she was trying to do a water landing…
Then it could have landed.
Yeah, then it could have probably been aimed for…
Without exploding.
Yeah, or like kind of like a more gradual glide into the water, or like you said, maybe it landed and then it took on water and it just sunk.
Would it have stayed that fast?
It’s like an uncontrolled viral range into the water, yeah.
But the other thing with the gas, because people are like, oh, she ran out of gas.
She had just left the airfield.
She had just topped off.
But weren’t her final calls saying that she was low on fuel?
Allegedly, that’s what they’re saying, yeah.
So some people are like, I don’t believe that she ran out of gas.
Also, how do they know?
Because they apparently took days to realize…
Yeah, that’s the other aspect.
Why was there a delay or such a delay?
Yeah, I’m not going to buy into this one.
I think it was just another fortunate tragedy.
But I feel like she lived.
I would like to believe she lived.
I don’t think she lived and moved to New Jersey, but I think she did unfortunately live and either died on an island or died with the plane.
Here’s the other thing I want to know.
What was in the suitcase in California that had to be destroyed?
What were the documents?
I actually have…
Oh, yeah.
You know?
No, I have something else, but that intrigued me too.
Maybe her love letters to Eleanor.
That quote specifically made me believe that these witnesses actually did hear her on the radio, because how else would they have known about that suitcase?
Do you know what I mean?
Here’s a map of the islands.
You can see Gardner Island, Howell Island, and you can see the Japanese island.
So, I mean, I think it’s plausible that she just crashed near her wrong island and just didn’t survive the crash.
I think they need to take that sonar image and go down there.
See what’s beyond.
Yeah.
This will be the next Titanic.
How deep is the water with that sonar image?
16,000 feet deep.
How many miles is that?
Don’t ask me.
I have my mileage.
I thought the moon was four miles vertical.
Oh, no.
But I really thought Amelia Earhart had something to do with the Bermuda Triangle, but literally nothing to do with the Bermuda Triangle whatsoever.
That’s three miles deep.
That’s pretty deep.
And what do we say?
Most of the Bermuda Triangle is four miles deep.
But I think three miles, they have investigated three miles deep.
If we have something specific to check for.
So they have the sonar imaging, and this was 2024 that all this came out.
So this is legit breaking news.
5,000 meters.
So we don’t have, they’re like actively exploring it, actively investigating the solar image, sonar imaging.
So we might have to do an update.
Next year, we’ll do an update.
What if they finally found her?
What if she’s in there?
I don’t think we’ll find her, but I think we’ll find the Electra.
I think we’ll find the plane.
Well, that’d be just even more mysterious if they find this plane and maybe just red skeleton in the back.
Well, it’s like the Titanic.
The bones would have disintegrated by now.
Like, you don’t see bones on the Titanic.
You decompose significantly faster in water.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Yeah.
Like, good soup.
Oh my gosh, this is so dark.
Putrification and scavenging creatures will dismember the corpse in a week or two, and bones will sink to the seabed.
There, they may be slowly buried by marine silt or broken down further over months to years, depending on the acidity of the water.
Man, oh, so, like, uh…
Probably Bin Laden is gone now, right?
I thought they shot him.
Yeah, but they buried him at sea because they didn’t want him to pick a murder.
Oh, yeah.
How long will bones last in the ocean?
Yeah, months to years.
Yeah, but not long.
My ending thoughts are she just crashed.
I do think she was near her goal.
I don’t understand why they couldn’t search quick enough to find her.
I do not think she had anything to do with Japan.
I think that was all war propaganda led by her family, mostly.
I don’t think she was a spy and RIP.
That’s my ending thoughts.
We don’t have Kait here to give us our poll, so recap we have.
So she crashed, didn’t live.
She crashed, lived for a little while.
She was shot down and executed by Japan.
She was a prisoner of war with Japan.
Or was she a spy for FDR?
Or did she live, change her name and move to Jersey?
What about crabs?
Or was she eaten by crabs?
That’s a lot of options.
There’s like crab.
Fixed theories.
May you pick for yourself.
Choose your own adventure.
Yeah, it’s like a choose your own adventure.
Eaten by crab.
I mean, it sounds like eating by crab is the way Colleen would like to go, I’m sure.
That would be iconic.
I always talk about this.
I would like to die.
I don’t care how I actually die.
I want the stories of my death to become exponentially crazy as the years pass.
So like maybe I die of a heart attack, but I want my great great grandkids to say like, Oh, Granny Colleen eat my coconut crabs.
Yeah, like that’s what I’d like.
What should the people do after this?
Scroll on down if you like us.
Leave us a review.
Colleen will do an accent at your request.
Share us with your friends.
Share us with your family.
Share us with people you like.
Share us with people you don’t like.
Yeah, we just appreciate the support.
That was a good impression.
Thank you.
See, I’m pretty good.
We’re going to work on the Moira Rose though.
Guys, thank you, Jamie, for joining us.
Thanks for having me.
Yeah, this wasn’t a crazy one.
No, but I cannot wait to talk mermaids with Jamie.
Mermaids are going to be, yeah.
It’ll make a splash.
Otherwise.
I’ve got some bubbles of theories.
I don’t know.
I don’t know about that one, I think.
You girls are putty.
And otherwise, good luck on your deep dive into the Bermuda Triangle.
Yeah, thanks.
I’m going to explore all the angles.
Kait and I will see the rest of you.
Hopefully she makes it back from Atlantis, okay?
Can’t wait to hear what she found in Atlantis or where Atlantis is.
Off the coast of Georgia.
All right, thanks guys.
See you.
Bye.
